Advertising targets college demographic using social media to build relationships

College students and recent grads have been a target demographic for many new technologies or products, and social media platforms are making the target market even more accessible. Brands that give consumers an extraordinary experience will now most likely share and promote the brand on social media without much incentive. An AOL report found that YouTube and Facebook were the two platforms in which consumers were most likely to be introduced and to purchase new products in this way.

In a world saturated by advertising, companies are turning to social media to build long-lasting relationships with the college demographic.
